TIPS ON BEING A SUCCESSFUL TELEWORKER

work from home office space

As a full teleworker myself, I can honestly say that this isn’t for everyone. Trying to stay focused while in the comfort of your own home can be pretty hard, especially when you have piles of laundry, kid’s toys, or dishes staring you in your face. It can be very tempting to go clean it up!

If you want to be a successful teleworker, there are quite a few things you should know. Here are my top tips for being a successful teleworker.

1. Create a Space

Creating a space just for your work is a must, otherwise, you will get distracted by all types of things you see throughout your day. So find a room in your home or a corner that works best for you. I recommend somewhere with a window, that way you don’t feel closed in all day.

2. Decorate your space

If your new workspace doesn’t have a designated room, then I would say find a desk and chair that fits your home’s esthetics, that way it doesn’t look out of place when your setup is complete. If you do have an actual room, then skies the limit. Do whatever your heart desires and I mean it!

Here are a few things you will need to to creating your new work space.

  • Desk
  • Chair
  • A Docking Station
  • Desk organizer
  • Mouse Pad
  • Monitor stand
  • Calendar
  • Task Lamp
  • Cable Clips
  • Standing Clip Board
  • Rug
  • Small Sofa
  • Pictures
  • Decorative Books
  • Curtains

These are just a few things, but this is your space so make it beautiful because you’ll be sitting there everyday.

3. No Distractions

When I say distraction, I mean if watching television causes you to become distracted from your work, then it should not be in your home office space. If sitting by a window will cause you to be Pearl from 227 lol, then do not have your desk facing the window. Simple adjustments like the above will help you in staying focused as a teleworker.

4. Add Things That Put You In a WorkSpace Mindset

I usually add nice photos of family, A huge calendar, a vision board with work goals, and even go to the extent of always using a coffee mug with words of affirmations on it that will start my day off right. Surrounding yourself with words of affirmations throughout your office is something I would always push for. It can literally change your mood as soon as you lay your eyes on it, so it can be a mug, a picture, or a vision board. I will always recommend doing this.

5. Have a Routine

Routines are important to start your day off especially if you are used to going into an office. I would say to still get up early and continue to do the things you are used to doing as if you were going into an actual office. This includes, but not limited to, showering, meditating, getting dressed, eating a full breakfast, and most importantly starting your day off early to allow yourself the time to do all of these things before starting work. It’s never a good idea to just roll out of bed and jump on the computer without taking time for yourself.

With all of the suggesting above, most importantly make sure you are 100% comfortable in your new space.

Good Luck in creating your new space.
