TIPS FOR SHOPPING HIGH STREET BRANDS FOR TALL WOMEN

TIPS FOR SHOPPING HIGH STREET BRANDS FOR TALL WOMEN

Shopping as a tall girl at high street brands can be frustrating. Most clothing stores don’t cater to taller women, which means you often have to settle for clothes that don’t fit properly. However, it’s always worth checking out different stores to see if they have a tall section or carry clothes for taller women. You never know what you may find a store that carries clothes that fit like a dream. Clothing companies need to recognize that not everyone is the same height and deserves to wear clothes that fit their body well. It can make a huge difference in how you feel about yourself and how confident you are in your appearance.

What I have found is that with some research and time, you can find amazing stylish clothes that fit your frame properly with some alterations. Finding a good tailor will always be your best friend. It will change the way you think about shopping and style.

As for my personal experience, I struggled as a teen. Most of my friends were between 5’4 -5’6 and didn’t experience the struggle I did. When I was able to purchase my clothes, I quickly realized I needed to shop based on my body type and not what everyone else was wearing.

When you do try your hand at a highstreet brand, there are a few things you need to take into account, and here they are:

  1. Does this highstreet store carry quality clothes?

2. What is the overall style of the clothes they carry? Does it fit your current style goals?

3. How about the inseam length? Do they carry a long enough length that caters to your body type?

4. Are the tall or long items tall only available online?

These are just a few key questions you should always ask yourself before shopping at any high street brand if you’re 5’9 and up. It will save you a lot of frustration.

Now the good part is, what brands do I recommend, and what you should look for when shopping in those stores?

THE FRANKIE SHOP

If you haven’t shopped at The Frankie Shop, you’re missing out on trendy oversized tops, bottoms, and outwear. My recommendations for tall women would be all tops and jackets that say oversized and One Size. These items typically fit taller women slightly oversized on this frame, but still very nice.

In addition, check out their trench and wool coats they are a win as well. Check them out!

FAVORITE DAUGHTER

I recently shopped for this brand for their trouser. My recommendations are The Favorite Pant and the Agnes Pant. They both are designed with an inseam up to 34″, with an additional 2 inches to alter if needed.

M.M LAFLUER

This brand doesn’t cater to tall women over 5’10, however, they carry amazing work blazers and belts. I would recommend grabbing their Beebe Belt. Thank me later!

VINCE
This brand is not so much high street, but they have great trousers and knitwear. If you don’t want to spend money on higher brands try them.

VERONICA BEARD
I recommend their blazer for tall women if they have average arms. Their blazers are top-tier and of great quality.

ZARA
Zara is one of my favorite places to shop for essentials and blazers. For tall women, lean towards their blazers that range from $149.90 and up. These seem to have the best quality as opposed to the others.

BANANA REPUBLIC
Banana Republic is so underrated, but one of the few brands that have a section for us and do not disappoint. I recommend checking out their dresses, blazers, trousers, shorts, and coats, you won’t be disappointed.

EXPRESS
I recently visited Express and was surprised they had some nice linen blend pieces. I wasn’t able to buy anything in-store. However, I did try them on. Since Express is solely work wear and doesn’t carry long or tall in-store, shop online for this brand.

The bottom line is there are benefits to shopping at high street brands for tall women if you put your mind to it.
