Red leather skirt and black cardigan with a red heart

We all know that trends change around every three months and typically can’t be worn in the trend season, so you are likely to have to spend more money on new clothes.

I often tell clients to stand clear of trendy clothes simply because they are coming to me with style struggles and dilemmas, and buying trends will only make them waste money if they are smart about what they are purchasing. However, It doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t wear trendy clothes and maximize what you’ve purchased. It just means being a little more strategic when shopping.

So, how do you shop trends and still get the most out of your clothes without buying new clothes each season? Simple, Have a plan and a strategy.

Follow these few steps the next time you buy the hottest trend.

CREATE YOUR PLAN

Before you go and buy everything you see, you want to create a plan to ensure you’re purchasing the things you need first. For example, if hourglass blazers are in and you love how they look and feel on you, opt for a more classic color. This way, you can wear it in multiple seasons and different ways.

Remember, the goal is to maximize your trendy items.

STICK TO CLASSIC SILHOUETTES

Sticking to more classic silhouettes will help maximize the things in your wardrobe, regardless of whether it’s trendy or isn’t. By doing this, you will be able to have the items in your wardrobe for years to come.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT COLORS

It is the key!

When shopping for trendy clothes, color is a huge factor. The more you lean towards loud colors, the more likely you have to replace that item, and on the opposite end, when you lean towards classic colors, regardless of the style, you can still wear that item next season.

So there you have it, quick ways to maximize the trendier pieces in your wardrobe.
