If you’re new to online shopping, here are a few rules you should follow to make the most of your experience. As a tall woman, there are key things I always follow that you should do.
In this article, I’ll share a few rules I follow each time I shop online. These rules have helped me in the past, and they are still relevant today.
The goal is to make good purchases and be confident in what you’re buying.
MEASUREMENTS
Typically, this rule is skipped by so many, but without knowing this, it’s impossible to shop online. Most women who don’t know their measurements tend to buy ill-fitting clothes or have to do a ton of returns. So, your best bet is to become very familiar with your measurements.
There are two options you can try to gather this information. One would be to take your own measurements.
Start by gathering your measurements for the areas below. If you do not own a flexible measuring tape, check Amazon.
- Shoulders
- Bust
- Waist
- Rise
- Hips
- Inseam
The other thing you can do is go to your local tailor. It is often a free service and a way to get to know your tailor. If you don’t know, having a tailor is your best friend. Thank me later!
READ THE DETAILS
The details are there to help the customer make an informed decision.
Most websites include most of the below, but this can vary from website to website.
1. The fabric compisition
2. The model’s height
3. The item measurements ( Inseam, Sleeve length, etc.)
In addition, you want to pay attention to the material and lean more towards the natural fabric. With all of this info, you want to research other outlets. Utilize TikTok, IG, and blogs to see what others are saying. a Turn into a detective!
SHOP THE BRANDS YOU WEAR
It is by far the easiest way to shop online. Shopping for the brands you already wear will make your shopping experience much more enjoyable.
When ready to jump into new brands, do extensive research prior. It will help ease some of the shopping woes.
Create a list of all the brands you currently shop to make this process easier, then create one with the brands you would love to shop. This way, you have both at your fingertips.
LIMIT MINDLESS BROWSING
In short, retailers are designing their websites to grab your attention. So limit impulse shopping.
Instead, shop from a wishlist. It limits reckless buying. Being intentional will benefit your wardrobe in the long run, especially if you want to add luxury items to your wardrobe.
As tall women, a wish list is our best friend!
SHOP WITH A COLOR PALETTE IN MIND
One reason I use my color palette is to keep my wardrobe cohesive. I don’t lean towards things that don’t fit my wardrobe aesthetic. The goal is to buy clothes that can easily pair with the other items in my closet.
Instead of shipping without a color palette in mind, always refer back to yours.
Choose 3-4 neutral colors. Take into account your undertones. Choose 5-7 base colors. These are the colors that make up the majority of your wardrobe and style. It’s a great start when creating your personal color palette.
The bottom line is shopping with rules can benefit your overall shopping experience and wardrobe.
