HOW TO FIND FASHION INSPIRATION

Pink blazer ,denim short and pink snakeskin pumps

When it comes to someone’s personal style, people often think they don’t need any help or inspiration, they just kind of go with what they like. Then there are those of us who love getting inspiration from others. Either way, I think it’s a great idea to seek out inspiration from other sources regardless of where you find it or if you think you have it all down-packed.

Since I am originally from NYC, I’ve always had the best selection of clothes at my fingertips, Especially working in Manhattan for most of my life. Manhattan is the place to be when it comes to Fashion Inspiration, and don’t let anyone tell you differently. NYC is a place where you can find both men and women with very different fashion senses.

1. Google Is Your Bestfriend

When it comes to online inspiration, Google has to be one of the easiest ways to get started. You can literally have an idea in your head, Google it and voila, there’s your inspiration.

2. Fashion Blogs

Okay, there are a million and one Fashion Blogs out there these days that actually get into the nitty-gritty of the hottest fashion shows and latest trends, but you may often find more fashion and lifestyle blogs these days. This is still okay since those bloggers tend to still be on-trend band up to date with the latest trends. Personally, I tend to lean towards those a little more because they are more relatable to me, but it depends on what you are looking for as far as your style. Here are a few of my favorites!

  • VOGUE
  • ELLE
  • The Zoe Report
  • Pop Sugar
  • Who What Wear
  • RCFA Red Carpet Fashion Awards
  • Fashion Bomb Daily

3. Social Media

Let’s be honest, social media is like opening a magazine tailored just for you. I say this because you can follow and unfollow whatever page you don’t like, so you’ll only see the ones you do like.

I recently cleaned up my Instagram to only follow Tall Women, Fashion Bloggers, Fashion Influencers, and luxury brands. This was so I could stay in the know when it came to the latest trends in fashion.

4. Pinterest

From creating your own boards to adding inspiration from other women to a board, Pinterest has become one of the most viewed apps for pretty much everything Fashion. If you’re looking for inspiration on what to wear to a wedding down to what to wear to the airport, Pinterest is it. Searching by keywords will simply pull up just that. So don’t cross it off of your list when looking for inspiration. Go ahead and create an account!

5. YouTube

Where it all goes down! Youtube is another place to get Fashion Inspiration from, simply because you have a video to back it up. As you call may or may not know, I just started a YouTube Channel specifically for tall women. The reason it’s geared towards us is that we have different struggles from average height women. So I put my fear behind me and started a channel.

6. Magazines

Do people still have subscriptions to magazines? If so, you are a rare jewel and this may not pertain to you, but for those of us who don’t, this is another great way to start a fashion mood board. Cutting out some awesome fashion pictures, adding some texture with some inspirational words can really set the tone on how fierce you want to show up in the fashion world.

7. Old Movies

Who doesn’t love old movies?! Well, my all-time favorite would be Pretty Woman. I mean this is the ultimate come-up movie for a streetwalker, from her Streetwalker Style to her Upscale Luxury Style. I especially love when Julia Roberts had the white dress on with the black wide-brim hat while she was shopping, and I love the short set she wore when she met up with her friend Kit. Anyway, old classic movies are a great way to also bring back some old classic looks.

8. Create a Fashion Vision Board

The most underrated way most people forget about. We create vision boards often for life, jobs, and whatever else you can think of, but I think this is another great way to get your inspired looks on a board so that they can be visible to your eye daily. So when you are shopping, you’re not going too far left off what you would like to look like.

Try it out, I’m sure you’ll love it!

9. Travel outside of the US

Personally, I think when you travel to different countries you get a great sense of classy fashion and not fast fashion. You have countries like France, Italy, Spain, Brazil, Japan, Sweden and so much more. These countries are most known for being the most fashionable.

So pick a country and go explore their fabulous fashion!

10. Get Creative

The most important tip would be to ” Just be yourself “! Look at your current wardrobe and figure out what you tend to buy when you shop. Most of us do have our own style but can’t seem to fully bring it together, but with a little research, you will be on your way.
