As the weather changes, your wardrobe also needs a refresh. Often we think cleaning out the entire closet is the solution, but a quick refresh is what your wardrobe needs.
To successfully perform a close refresh, there are some steps you should always take before you get started. So, clearing your weekend is a good start.
CREATE A PLAN
One of the things I like to do is sit and make a plan, typically consist the things I need, want, and need to replace. It’s how I keep my wardrobe functional.
Let’s go into how I determine what I need, wand, and need to replace. It may seem like a daunting task, however, it’s simple if done right.
WHAT I WANT
The best way to do this is to grab your wardrobe essentials list from Google and shop your closet. Choose the items that work well with your style and wardrobe. It is how I keep those boring items that I need in my wardrobe. I use a wardrobe essentials list I created that works well with my wardrobe needs and style.
Beginning with the basic white button-up and a great pair of jeans, I start building a list from there. Remember, the things you need are different from the things you want.
THINGS I REPLACE
When it comes to replacing, these are solely the things that I love and are essential to my wardrobe. I typically replace the items like a white button-up, white tees, white sneakers, etc.
On another note, replace things that are damaged, worn out, or too small.
- Black T-shirt
- White T-shirt
- Black turtleneck
- White button-down shirt (one cotton, one silky)
- Crisp white blouse
- Crewneck sweater
- Cardigan
- A black dress
- Pencil skirt
- Jeans
- Black pants
- Skinny jeans
- Khaki pants
- Denim Jacket
- Cropped jacket
- Black cashmere wrap
- Basic black pumps
THINGS I WANT
Things I want are more on the trendy side for that season, this can consist of any of the below items but not limited to.
It’s so I can stay on trend but still be practical with my current wardrobe and style. I tend to lean towards colors more so than the style of an item. It’s so I can use them for more than one season.
Here are a few items I typically purchase at the beginning of a season. These are trendy items or things that work well with my wardrobe.
- Shoes
- Sandals
- Jackets
- Skirts
- Pants
- Jeans
- Jewelry
- Hats
- Dresses with unique silhouettes
The bottom line is that you should follow a plan and build your desired wardrobe!
