Fall is finally here, and your wardrobe needs a little revision, but you don’t know where to start. You don’t know if you should buy all new items or fill in the missing pieces. Well, I’m here to help; No need to worry.
You can do one of the two, work with what you have, or go shopping for all new pieces. It depends on your wardrobe needs for the season.
In this article, I’ll talk about how you can use what you have to build your fall essentials list, and I’ll also guide you to building one from scratch. The choice is yours, but you do have an option.
WORK WITH WHAT YOU HAVE
In this section, I’ll talk about why some women work with what they have and why it works for them, then I’ll teach you how to do this.
Women who prefer this option are more than likely the ones who already shop m with a plan and strategy and purchase clothes that are essentials more often than not. They usually already have these items in their wardrobes and may need to replace them because they have outgrown them, or it’s just good ole wear and tears.
The benefit of always shopping smart is you have an eye for classic pieces that will allow your wardrobe to be full of things that go with one another. I’m not saying that trends are a no, but you will have to replace them more often than classic pieces.
So, let’s work with what you have. Ask yourself these questions before you start.
- What does your Fall wardrobe look like to you?
- Do you want classic or trendy pieces in your wardrobe?
- Do you prefer your fall wardrobe to have a mix of two styles?
- Do you want to add a little color to your wardrobe?
- Do you not want to spend any money on new items?
If you’ve decided on the above question, then you can start.
STEP 1- LIFESTYLE ANALYSIS
Before you start, think about what you will possibly be doing this fall. Are you attending more social events than you did in Spring? Determine if the items you currently have are wearable to these events and if they can last another season. This way, you’re not spending any money.
STEP 2- CREATE A MOOD BOARD
This board should consist of things you currently have, not necessarily a mood board of style inspiration.
STEP 3- ANALYZE YOUR EXISTING FALL CLOTHES
Does any of the items in your wardrobe need replacing? If they can last another season, that’s great! Have them sent to the dry cleaners and scratch that off your list.
STEP 4- CREATE YOUR CHECKLIST
Your fall essentials should consist of the below list of items, but if not, you may or may not need them depending o your needs.
- Camel Coat
- Trench Coat
- Moto Boots
- Leather Jacket
- Long Knit Cardigan
- Ankle Booties
- Knee High Boots
- Over the Knee Boots

- Oversized Sweatshirt
- Utility Jacket ( optional)
- Denim Jacket ( optional)

- Leather Skirt ( Style will depend on your style
- Satin Midi Skirt

STEP 5- PREPARE YOUR CLOTHES ON A CLOTHES RACK
Doing this will allow you to see the bigger picture of what you have and if you do need to add new items or not. All items on this rack should be in excellent to good condition. If they are not, you will need to replace them.
After this final step, you will be all set for fall! You can create another mood board with style inspiration and narrow your look for this fall.
BUILDING FROM SCRATCH
This section will apply to the women who need and want to start from scratch. The steps are the same, but you will follow these additional steps.
STEP 1- PLAN YOUR BUDGET
Knowing what you will and will not invest in is the first thing to do correctly. You want to stick to your budget unless you are willing to invest in something that will last for multiple seasons and transition to Winter.
STEP 2- CREATE A LIST OF ITEMS YOU NEED
Using the list above, choose all the items you need to purchase and which ones over time.
STEP 3- FIND YOUR BRANDS
Once you decide what you will purchase in the first round; Then you have to figure out the brands you plan on shopping at for your clothes.
STEP 4- BE STRATEGIC
Decide what’s a priority and what’s not. This way, you are building the correct way.
STEP 5- GO SHOPPING
It’s the fun part! Stick to your budget, don’t cheat yourself by buying poor quality. Choose the best quality, and have fun.
Fall is the time to bundle up, but still, look fierce!
