Having a dream wardrobe for your social and professional life is something we women dream of. Even if we can have our dream closet mimic a celebrities closet like Rhianna or Traci Ellis Ross. We would be in heaven! Now, these women have access to so many things that we normal folk don’t but, it doesn’t mean we can’t attain it.
When it comes to building a work wardrobe from scratch you much have your key essentials. I think I’ve mentioned this in a past post but, I’ll say it again. If your wardrobe is missing the key basic essentials you will not have a closet that is functioning how it should and you will struggle to put a basic outfit together without these pieces.
Let’s chat about why you’ve been having issues with building your dream wardrobe then I’ll get into what your life would be like if you had one.
THE DON’TS
Most of the time, people look to Pinterest and Instagram for style ideas, but they often mistake copying the entire outfit that doesn’t always suit their personal style. This is. Big NO NO! You only take inspiration from these outlets and not the entire look. When you do this you aren’t really addressing your personal needs, you are putting a bandaid on a situation that needs your full attention.
Another reason why your having trouble with building your dream wardrobe is you don’t have a plan. When shopping, having a plan and strategy is key in not wasting money or buying things you don’t need. You end of with clothing that doesn’t fit your style or can’t be used multiple times. So keep that in mind have a plan before you head out shopping.
Don’t rush when trying to build your wardrobe. If you run it and just start picking up things without having a plan I can almost guarantee you’ll end up with stuff you’ll never wear. We have to stop impulse shopping because it doesn’t do our closets any justice.
THE DO’S
Buy Investment Pieces
I will always recommend women invest in their clothes. This way you’re not repurchasing the same items every season because you went with a cheaper quality. It’s not worth it in the end trust me!
Think of Fit
When you are out shopping think of the fit of every single item you buy. Never purchase something that’s too small. instead, go a little bigger and get it tailored. Remember you can’t take out something that’s too small but you can always take in something that’s too big.
Fabric
To key in long-lasting clothes is choosing lasting fabrics. The worst thing you can do is keep buying clothes that do not have great quality. It’s a pure waste of money when you spend your hard-earned money on things you have to keep replacing season after season so, don’t do it.
Style
Choose clothes that fit your style or things that you are moving towards with your style. It’s called shopping with a plan and strategy. When you are building a wardrobe you should always shop with intentions. This way your not buying things that you may end up not wearing. So be strategic when you start building your wardrobe.
