BLACK WOMEN IN LUXURY

Black women in luxury

I’ll be the first to say that I was very reluctant about doing this article but, I figured another perspective wouldn’t hurt. Speaking of my own life growing up, I was introduced to luxury at a very early stage in my life by my mom and dad but both in very different ways.

As for my mom, she was the type of woman who would always stress that looking your very best wherever you were going and always dress for the occasion. The worst thing you want to do is wear a ball gown to a sports game lol. She was also a perfume lover, so she taught me to always smell good as it was very ladylike. When it came to grooming as a whole, she always made sure that my nails, feet, hair, and all other womanly maintenance were taking care of. So I took those same teachings along with me as an adult.

When it came to my home, she also stressed that investing in quality furniture was a must. In the end, it saves you money and most importantly you’re not replacing furniture year after year.

Invest in good quality and it will last you for years!

My dad was another story, extremely flashy when it came to his cars but also big on saving. He wasn’t blowing money on luxury without putting a little something to the side first. I’m thankful that I was able to learn this at a young age and still preach this today.

In the end, luxury does come in different forms and doesn’t necessarily always mean material.

GROOMING

Most people overlook this step and jump right into buying luxury items and forgetting that this is an essential part of a luxury lifestyle. If you are not well-groomed and not taking care of your hygiene it can definitely be frowned upon. So here are a few grooming steps I would recommend in adding to your daily, weekly, or monthly routine.

  • Manicure
  • Pedicure
  • Hair

  • Waxing
  • Brows
  • Teeth Cleaning
  • Skin Exfoliating
  • Steaming Clothing
  • Facials

SELFCARE

Most people won’t equate self-care with luxury but, I do. If you aren’t fully at your best mentally, physically, and emotionally, then having expensive luxury things won’t make a difference in how you feel. It may have some temporary relief but most certainly won’t last. I can’t stress this enough but, self-care is the most important step in this journey and I would always recommend it first. It’s a lifestyle!

Self-care would include but not limit any of the below about your mental and spiritual work.

  • Therapy
  • Reading
  • Declutter
  • Excersice

  • Sleep
  • Meditating
  • Get Organized
  • Pray
  • Eating Healty
  • Drink Water
  • Learn a new skill
  • Take a trip

LUXURY SHOPPING

Now for the fun part, luxury shopping YAY!

BLACK WOMEN deserve it all! I said what I said. Black women should normalize luxury as we deserve just as must as any other race of women, so get comfortable with it.

Regardless of what you consider to be luxury for yourself, it needs to be normalized in our community. Whether it’s purchasing a fancy home in an upscale neighborhood, taking a trip to Cabo, or investing in a vacation home. It’s still part of the lifestyle. Some may prefer bags and shoes while others prefer exclusive neighborhoods to live in but, It all balls down to what you deem as a luxury for yourself. So the choice is yours.

A quick tip before I go, never deplete your funds to keep up with what you see on the internet. If you can’t buy it twice then you may have to skip on it but if you can, by all means, splurge!
