BENEFITS OF BEING A TALL WOMAN

As a 6ft Tall Woman who embraces her height to the fullest, I have found that most teenagers and young women struggle with embracing their height to the fullest in their early years growing up. My thought is you were most likely the tallest in grade school and middle school or probably were made fun of for being tall. What I learned first from home, was to always embrace what I was blessed with, regardless of what it was i.e height, skin color, body type, and even facial features. We are all made uniquely in God’s eyes and he doesn’t make mistakes. With that being said, I was still able to find 10 benefits of being a TALL WOMAN.

1. COMMAND RESPECT

Without being cocky, conceited, or just downright self-absorbed, commanding respect when walking into a room without doing anything is one power that we have. You feel like a celebrity truth be told lol. I enjoy this one quite often.

2. PEOPLE THINK YOU’RE A MODEL

Yes, a Model! Now I’m not saying we are all out here looking like Naomi Campbell or Iman, but people always assume you model or even think you’re a celebrity. As if there aren’t regular tall men and women walking around looking fabulous on the daily basis. I love this benefit personally!

3. UNFORGETTABLE

Whenever you meet a new group of people through a mutual friend for the first time they will always remember you simply because of your height. When it’s time to invite you again they will most likely say ” Who the tall young lady or tall young man” they may not remember your name but trust me you definitely left your mark.

4. YOU CAN SEE OVER ALMOST EVERYONE’S HEAD

This is one of those benefits that we totally overlook. Imagine going to a concert and everyone is standing up and you miss nearly half of it because you can’t see over anyone’s head. Welp, we won’t have this issue ever! Being able to see over everyone’s head is one of those benefits I personally enjoy. How about you?

5. WE MAKE MORE MONEY

HUFF and FORBES both say that “researchers estimate that each additional centimeter of height is associated with a 1.30% increase in annual income. In other words, a person who is 5 feet 6 inches making $50,000 per year would expect to make about $2,000 more if they were 5 feet 7 inches, and $4,000 more if they were 5 feet 8 inches”. Who really knows how true this is but it sounds good to me.

6. MORE LIKELY TO BE MORE SUCCESSFUL

Just Google it! There are many articles about the correlation between being tall and successful out there, But who knows exactly how true this is. I just know it’s something to think about and can possibly be some truth to it. So whatever it is you want to do in life just go for it, you may have a higher chance of succeeding than someone who is shorter.

7. LESS LIKELY TO BE ATTACKED

I can attest to this, most attackers will think twice before trying their hand with you simply because of your height. They will most likely feel that it will be too much of a fight to take you down. I personally think they feel it’s easier and less effort to attack someone shorter, but that doesn’t mean they won’t put a fight either. So with that, your height is definitely an advantage in this case too.

8. ALWAYS GET PICKED IN SPORTS FIRST

Without doing anything we always get picked first all the time. People assume we can play any sport not even knowing us from a hole in the wall. I think it’s quite funny since a lot of us really aren’t interested in playing sports or anything that involves running or jumping lol, but this is one benefit that will always be on a list of benefits of being a tall person.

9. DRESSES LOOK AMAZING ON US

As a tall woman, I can attest to this benefit. I’ve always taken a liking to Maxi Dresses and Midi dresses for myself, but I have seen plenty of tall women with mini skirts and dresses on and they look absolutely stunning. So pick a dress or skirt that suits you best. If you haven’t tried a maxi yet, go give it a try. You won’t be disappointed. It’s like we are walking goddesses when we step into the room.

10. WE HAVE OUR OWN HOLIDAY

This isn’t a national holiday, but there’s a huge Facebook group that declared February 11th “Hug A Tall Person Day”. I absolutely love this idea since all tall people both men and women joined together to form this group. From my understanding, this was founded back in 2011 so it hasn’t been around long, but I still can appreciate it. So if you are a tall person with any social media platform, here are a few hashtags you can use to bring others to your page.

  1. #HugATallPersonDay
  2. #NationalHugATallPersonDay
  3. #TallPersonDay
  4. InternationalHugATallPersonDay

Embrace your God-giving height!
